USA’s Ross/Sweat Take Down Olympic Champions On Way To Quarterfinals

The second day of play of the main draw at the Moscow FIVB World Beach Tour event didn’t start off all sunny and warm but eventually made it there. The USA pair of Summer Ross and Brooke Sweat were able to fight their way through three matches to make it to the quarterfinals.

Ross/Sweat fought through three matches to the quarterfinals on Friday, with a two-set victory over Olympic champions Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst 2-0, (21-19, 21-13). In addition, they also took down fellow American’s Kelly Claes and Sara Hughes 2-0, (21-16, 21-15).

The American duo will now take on Karla Borger and Margareta Kozuch of Germany in the quarterfinals. Borger/Kozuch was able to take down the American squad of April Ross and Lauren Fendrick 2-0, (25-23, 23-21).

  • Talita Antunes/Larissa Franca of Brazil

Tomorrow’s play will consist of the quarterfinal and semifinal matches, with the finals being played on Sunday.
