The Curitibano Volleyball club in Brazil has announced two new members who will join the team to compete in the SuperLiga ‘B’ Brazilian volleyball league.
Both Valeska Menezes and Flavia Assis, who have plenty of international experience will be joining the team.
Menezes has a long history of representing Brazil internationally. Her first major international medal came at the 2003 FIVB World Cup in Japan, where her team finished second overall. At that competition she was named the ‘best blocker.’
She went on to win represent Brazil at two Olympic Games, including the 2008 games in Beijing where she was part of the gold medal winning team. Menezes also has gold medals from the 2004, 2005, and 2006 FIVB World Grand Prix’s and the 2008 Final Four Cup.
Since 2009 Menezes has been playing for Galatasaray Medical Park. Throughout her career, she’s spent the most time on this team than any other team.
Assis has an impressive record as a volleyball player as well, playing in both clubs in Brazil and Europe. Her most recent stint was playing with a French club for 3 months before returning to Brazil last December.
