It seems the extra reps of playing through the country quota and qualifying rounds may have been the key for Americans April Ross and Alix Klineman in winning 10 straight matches and the DELA Beach Open gold medal on Sunday.
“We got some real good momentum going playing two really good teams in the country quota round,” Ross said. “We started to get in a rhythm and we found our cues and we just stuck with it. We all just stuck together and it felt amazing.”
Klineman discussed how the team kept it together when Brazil fought back in Set 2.
“We didn’t let ourselves get frustrated with any part of our game,” Klineman said. ‘We just kept looking forward and that worked for us.”
The pair’s coach Jen Kessy also got in on the interview discussing her feelings with the duo’s success and how much time she spent game planning.
