2017 CEV EUROPEAN WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIPS

After the Netherlands routed Croatia in their playoff match, they will now take on Italy in the quarterfinals of the 2017 CEV European Women’s Championships.

The Netherlands have been carried heavily by Lonneke Sloetjes who has put down 59 points for the Dutch. Anne Buijs has also been a strong force for the Netherlands while Celeste Plak has been fairly quiet thus far into the competition. The Dutch will need for Sloetjes and Buijs to step up and be a heavy presence on the court against a strong and up-and-coming Italian squad.

Italy has been dominant so far in the competition, running through their pool play opponents to a 3-0 start. They have been led by Paola Ogechi Egonu, who has 76 points in the three matches. She will need to continue her tough play against the Dutch squad in order to advance on to the semifinals.
