“We Were Mentally Below Trentino” – Chaumont’s Silvano Prandi

After securing a 3-2 win in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 12 match up against Diatec Trentino, France’s Chaumont BV 52 expected a different result than its 3-0 loss in their next match up, which eliminated it from the competition. Chaumont was limited to a 38% hitting performance in the game and was not able to capitalize on Trentino’s 31 errors. Its coach, Silvano Prandi, had some strong words to describe his team’s performance:

“Volleyball is a combination of factors; this means you can win courtesy of a block or of a service mistake. Many elements play a role in each rally and we did not do everything the best we could. The fact that my team gave up at the end of each set is very significant. That means that we were mentally below Trentino. Actually, I was hoping to take more advantage of their mistakes, but this night they were better than us. Now we have to leave the disappointment behind and congratulate our opponents and come back home in order to focus on the national championship.”

Trentino now awaits the winner of the match between Lube Civitanova and Skra Belchatow to know the name of their opponent in the last round of the competition preceding the Final Four.
