Senior middle blocker Haleigh Washington joined the 1,000 career kill club on Saturday against Indiana putting Penn State is elite company. PSU is the only Division I school to boast three active members of the 1,000 kill club.

Senior outside hitter Ali Frantti was the first to reach the milestone, doing so on Aug. 26 at West Virginia. Senior outside Simone Lee was next up, tallying her 1,000th kill at Ohio State on Oct. 6. Washington’s feat marked the first time in school history that a trio of players have joined the club in the same season.

This is the second time in school history the Nittany Lions have had a trio of 1,000 kill players on the same team, following the 2008 squad which featured Megan Hodge, Nicole Fawcett and Christa Harmotto. Hodge and Fawcett also had 1,000 kills coming into the season, while Harmotto reached the milestone just a few weeks in.

N.C. State is the only other school on pace to boast a trio of active 1,000 kill members. Julia Brown (1,176), Bree Bailey (1,119) are already in the club, while Kaitlyn Kearney is just six kills away at 994.
