U.S National Team Member and former Stanford star Inky Ajanaku has had her contract terminated by Galatasaray Women’s Volleyball.
According to the team’s website, the parties couldn’t reach a mutual agreement on the contract and thus it was cancelled on September 18th.
Ajanaku, 23, announced in May of this year that she was joining the team in the Turkish League, leaving her previous team, Volero Zurich. When signing her contract, Ajanaku was in the process of coming off an injury that caused her to miss an entire year for the Swiss Champions.
That wasn’t the first time that Ajanaku had to sit-out from playing due to injury. While representing team USA at the Pan American Cup, she took home a gold medal, but also took home a nagging knee injury that caused her to miss the 2015 collegiate season.
The 6’3″ (190cm) middle blocker hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma was an athletic force in the NCAA. Representing Stanford she hit .413 during her career and was named an AVCA First-Team-All-American three times. In her final 2016 season she led the Cardinal to a National Championship, averaging 3.74 points per set and putting up her best blocking numbers of 1.54 blocks per set.
There is no indication over Ajanaku’s social media as to what her next step will be for the 2018-19 season.
Ajanaku will not be competing for the United States at the upcoming FIVB World Championships.
