SEC: Kentucky Withstands A&M in 5; Missouri Knocks Off Florida

Kentucky extended its win streak to 11 matches and remains as the lone undefeated team in the SEC after a five-set win over Texas, while Missouri knocked off No. 11 Florida in Gainesville for the Gators first league loss.

Four road teams came up victorious in the six Sunday matches, with only Ole Miss and South Carolina holding home court, with both doing so in four-set affairs.

• Missouri trailed 9-4 in Set 5 against #11 Florida, but scored eight of the next 10 to grab a 12-11 lead. The Gators had a match-point try at 14-13, but Mizzou closed out the night on a 4-1 run, handing Florida its first loss since Sept. 7.
• Missouri won despite hitting just .137 to Florida’s .221 effort and trailing the Gators 23.5 to 9 in blocks.
• Kylie Deberg led all hitters with 21 kills, nine digs, four blocks and three aces for Mizzou, while Dariana Hollingsworth (11 kills, 13 digs) and Leketor Member-Meneh (10 kills) followed.
• Six Florida players notched seven or more kills led by Rachel Kramer (10 kills, 9 blocks, .438) and Thayer Hall (10 kills, 12 digs, 7 blocks). Taelor Kellum added a match-high 13 blocks and seven kills.
• Kentucky outhit Texas A&M .500 to -.188 in a decisive 15-5 Set 5. Two block by Madison Lilley and five kills by Leah Edmond highlighted an early 9-1 run. The Wildcats ended the match on a 3-0 run, including an ace by Lauren Tharp and the final putaway by Alli Stumler.
• Edmond pounded down a match-high 23 kills for Kentucky, while Hollann Hans countered with a 21-kill, 12-dig double-double for Texas A&M.
• Alabama put up a season-best 15 blocks to top Arkansas, led by Hayley McSparin‘s seven stuffs.
• Doris Carter turned in a 15-kill, 10-dig double-double to lead Alabama, while Kelly O’Brien downed a match-high 17 kills and five blocks to pace Arkansas.
• Arkansas senior Okiana Valle notched 27 digs to move to 1,666 for her career, second most in program history.
• LSU put up 13 blocks in the loss to Tennessee, but were outhit .178 to .120 and outdone 62-49 in kills and 4-1 in aces.
• Tessa Grubbs (20), Erica Treiber (19) and Addisyn Rowe (11) led the Vol offense with double-digit kill tallies. Taylor Bannister was tops for the Tigers with 15 kills and six blocks.
• Ole Miss bested instate foe Mississippi State in front of a record crowd of 1,207 at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center.
• Ole Miss outhit Mississippi State .336 to .250 in the match including .412 to .212 in Set 4.
• Emily Stroup led all hitters with 17 kills for the Rebels, while Paige Shaw notched 14 to pace the Bulldogs.
• South Carolina hit at a .357 clip, its best effort in SEC play, to top Georgia. Mikayla Shields downed 18 kills on a .455 clip to pace the team.
• The Gamecock win sealed the team’s first season sweep of Georgia since 2006.
