The new year has brought the University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team some new swag on the court. Under Armor delivered the men’s team with a new interesting look for 2017 with a white jersey and a black jersey. As major brands push the envelope in an ever-more-eclectic sports fashion scene, typically seen in football and basketball, Under Armour has pushed the limits even further to gain market share in the volleyball-mad state of Hawaii.
The white jersey is a little something different that sets the men’s team apart from the rest. The main icon on the jersey is the Hawaii state flag that dramatically goes across the bottom of the jersey with all white shorts, socks, and shoes. The Hawaii state flag is a hybrid of the American flag and the British flag into one with 8 red, white, and blue strips to symbolize the 8 islands of Hawaii.
The black jersey is a stand out as well with a crazy zig-zag design along the sides of the jersey of the university’s colors green, white, and black. This design definitely fits the Hawaiian tribal vibe and feel.
The new uniforms have brought some luck for the team as they recently just won their 8th straight Outrigger Invite tournament and has gone on an unbeaten winning streak for 2017. The Rainbow Warriors are 4-0 and ranked #7 in the NCAA.
Look out for the new uniforms tonight when the Rainbow Warriors take on Grand Canyon tonight at 7 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center in their second match during the two-match, non-conference series.
