Japan and China kept pace with one another and set up a battle for Pool F supremacy on Thursday, each registering a sweep on Wednesday. The teams each stand at 2-0 heading into the pool finale.

Japan 3, USA 0
Japan used an efficient offense to issue the United States a 3-0 loss on Wednesday.
The Japanese put down 46 kills and committed just seven errors in the match. The team also outserved the Americans 6-3. For its part, Team USA managed 39 kills and outblocked Japan 8-2, but were done in by 21 miscues.
Four players managed double-digit scoring efforts for Japan. Reina Tokuku tallied 13 points with 12 kills and a block. Shiori Aratani added 12 points, with 10 kills, a block and an ace. Shuri Yamaguchi chipped in eight kills and a team-best three aces, while Miuki Horie notched nine kills and an ace.
Brionne Butler led the way for the Americans with 16 points, including 14 kills and two blocks. Elizabeth Thayer Hall, Ronika Stone and Leah Edmond followed with nine points apiece. Thayer Hall served up all three of the team’s aces, while Stone paced the team at the net with four blocks. Edmond added eight kills and a block.
China 3, Bulgaria 0
China topped Bulgaria in all phases of a 3-0 sweep on Wednesday, while also capitalizing on 24 miscues from its foes.
China put down 34 kills to Bulgaria’s 29, while also outblocking them 10-8 and outserving them 7-6. The Chinese limited their miscues to 13.
Xiaqing Cai paced China with 14 points, including 11 kills, two aces and a block. Hanyu Yang and Han Wu chipped in 10 points apiece. Yang managed a team-best three aces, two blocks and five kills, while Wu turned in eight kills, a block and an ace. Yuqian Zhang put up a team-leading four blocks.
Emileta Racheva and Borislava Saykova notched 12 and 10 points respectively to lead Bulgaria. Racheva tallied six kills, four blocks and two aces, while Saykova registered a team-best three aces, four blocks and three kills.
