Junior college All-American Annie Wehrheim is making the jump to Division I volleyball as a member of the 2017 Southeast Missouri Redhawks squad.
Wehrheim comes to Southeast after two years at John A Logan College in Carterville, Illinois. While with the Volunteers, the 6-0 outside hitter was named 2016 Great Rivers Athletic Conference Player of the Year and earned Region 24 MVP honors en route to Honorable Mention NJCAA Division I All-America accolades. She managed 2.70 kills per set and hit at a .315 clip in 25 matches. She posted double-digit kills 13 times, including a season-best 18 against Lake Land. Wehrheim also chipped in five or more blocks on seven occasions, including a season-high seven against Allen County.
The Woodlawn, Illinois, native also earned all-conference nods in 2015 after averaging 3.08 kills, 1.53 digs and 0.63 blocks per set and hitting at a .249 clip. Her 3.08 kills per set ranked 43rd in NJCAA Division I and her 3.7 points per set were 35th nationally.
Wehrheim’s addition gives Southeast Missouri 10 upperclassmen on the roster, including fellow 2017 transfers Haley Bilbruck (UNLV) and Madara Bajare (Hillsborough CC) and Marie Less (Arkansas State), who joined the team in 2015.
Southeast, which went 7-23 in 2016, kicks off the season at the New Orleans Tournament against Fordham, Alcorn State and New Orleans.
