Brazilians Sit Atop Final FIVB World Rankings For 2017

With the 2017 FIVB World Tour Finals ended, new rankings and money totals have emerged. The Finals did not award any players with points towards their rankings but did have a more massive payout.

Men’s Rankings – Top 15

Despite the first place finish at the World Tour Finals, American’s Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena fell back to #4 in the World Rankings. Topping the list is Brazil’s Evandro Goncalves and Andre Loyola with 4,180 points.

Italy’s Paolo Nicolai/Daniele Lupo came in at #2 in the rankings after finishing third at the Finals. Russia’s Viacheslav Krasilnikov and Nikita Liamin come it at #3 in the rankings while Alvaro Filho and Saymon Santos round out the top five at #5.

  • Evandro/Andre (BRA) – $200,000, nine events, one gold medal
  • Lupo/Nicolai (ITA) – $129,500, eight events
  • Kantor/Losiak (POL) – $128,000, nine events
  • Krasilnikov/Liamin (RUS) – $112,100, 11 events, two gold medals

Women’s Rankings – Top 15

Despite having a bad FIVB World Tour Finals run, Brazil’s Larissa Franca and Talita Antunes remain atop of the FIVB World Rankings with 5,560 points. Larissa/Talita finished in third place at the competition, earning $50,000 to split.

Coming in fourth at the Finals was Canada’s Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredes, who remain at #2 in the World Rankings. Rounding out the top-five are Germany’s Julia Sude/Chantal Laboureur, Brazil’s Agatha Bednarczuk/Eduarda ‘Duda’ Santos Lisboa and the Czech Republics Barbora Hermannova/Marketa Slukova.

The women’s winners, Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst did not see any improvements in their rankings following the Finals, coming in at #12 with 2,556 points.
