Canada’s Alexa Gray Named MVP of NORCECA Women’s Group B Qualifier

After three days of action, the two qualifiers for the 2018 World Championships were decided and Canada and Cuba punched their tickets to Japan.

Canada earned the top qualifying spot with a 3-0 record, topping Cuba, St. Lucia and Nicaragua in sweeps. Cuba finished second with its lone loss coming to the Canadians in the final match. Nicaragua was third, garnering its lone win against St. Lucia.

Canada’s Alexa Gray was named MVP of the qualifier, notching a group best 35 points, followed by Marie-Alex Belanger (34). Gray also was named best scorer and top opposite player. Belanger garnered best server honors after notching six aces in the competition. Cuba’s Daymara Lescay put up seven blocks to lead all players.

Best Server: Marie-Alex Belanger, CAN

Best Digger: Kristen Moncks, CAN

Best Receiver: Kyla Richey, CAN
