Andrea Pistola had a difficult 2017-18 season. After being at the helm of Italy’s SAB Legnano for the last 2 seasons and a half, he was fired from his spot after the team’s bad 4-9 start to its latest campaign. Although, the team was later penalized by Italian authorities for not having paid his salary, so fans will never truly know the main reason of his departure from Legnano.

After the tumultuous first half of the season, Pistola found a new home with then A2’s Cuneo. With hard work, he was able to help the team achieve a promotion to A1 for the first time in its history. For his work, he was rewarded with a contract extension, which was announced in the club’s official website, and will coach the team next season in A1. Here is how he reacted to the news:

“I am happy and satisfied to be able to continue working in an environment like the one in Cuneo, where I found myself very well since my arrival. I enthusiastically welcomed the proposal of the team to continue our relationship, even before the prospect of participating in the Serie A1 championship, which then made things even more interesting. We are working with the management to set up a team that can fight to maintain its performance, but the ideas are clear and for this I am confident. The team has all the prerequisites for a good season, which can bring it even closer to the public of the city, which was very important in the second part of the last season.”
