CSUN’s Arvis Greene has been named this week’s AVCA DI-II Player of the Week after helping his team to two sweeps over then-#3 Hawaii.
The then-#10 Matadors hosted back-t0-back matches against the Warriors to continue Big West play after two non-conference matches, winning in straight sets in each match. Greene was the star of the show in each of the matches, posting 5.33 kills per set on a .387 hitting clip while also posting 1.17 blocks and 0.83 digs per set.
In the first match, Greene posted 18 kills on a .438 hitting percentage along with 2 blocks and 2 digs. On night two, he led the team once against with 14 kills on a .333 hitting clip while adding in 5 blocks and 3 digs. His .387 hitting percentage for the week was nearly .50 above his season average.
With the two wins, the Matadors move to #8 in this week’s AVCA Rankings from #10.
Greene is the first player since March 2, 2009, and 10th in program history to earn the honor.
