Spanish club Haro Rioja Voley has announced in its official website the signing of Denise Belcher to its roster. The 6’1″ 23-years-old outside/opposite hitter is transferring out of Sweden to what will be her sophomore professional season after graduation from the University of South Florida. Here are her first words as a member of her new team:

“This club is a good place for me. The coaches and players work very hard and I like that a lot. My agent gave me very good references about this team. I expect it to be a very competitive season, full of emotions and at the same time fun. I have never been to Spain and I really want to experience life in this country.”

After only seeing sporadic court time during her freshman and sophomore seasons at USF, Denise really made an impact on the team in her final two years of eligibility, averaging 2.56 kills per set. When all was said and done, she appeared in 31 matches and 87 sets in her senior season, posting four double-doubles and notching nine double digit kill matches and four double digit dig matches. At her new club, she’ll find a team that finished the 2017/18 Liga Iberdrola with a 14-8 record, good enough for 6th place. She will be joined in the team by former Washington Huskies star Cassie Strickland.
