Bulgarian club Dobrudja 07 wants to cash in the hype of Bulgaria’s hosting of the 2018 FIVB Men’s World Championship. The team  has recently announced its plans to build a new multi-functional arena, up to FIVB’s international standards, in which its volleyball team will play in the future (Sportal.bg):

“Dobroudja’s management has a great desire and has prepared a project for the construction of a new multi-functional arena in Dobrich. It is a facility similar to Arena Rousse, which can offer excellent conditions for volleyball on European and World level specifications. Our current “Dobrotitsa” arena is good, but it does not meet many of the conditions of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) to hold big competitions. The audience in Dobrich and our team needs a larger facility that can also be used to host other major sports and cultural events and concerts in the city. I hope soon to find a serious investor to make this project a reality. If this happens, Dobrich may have a new comfortable hall in up to 2-3 years.”

Bulgaria’s national teams have always flirted with greatness, specially the men’s side. Maybe the development of its national domestic league is the final push it needs to go over the edge.
