The Dutch team of Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen made good on their first FIVB Tournament appearance of the year, bringing home the title after a 21-14, 21-17 win over Paolo Nicolai and Daniele Lupo of Italy.

Brouwer and Meeuwsen, who won bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics, advanced to the final after defeating Poland’s Marciej Rudol and Jakub Szalankiewicz 20-22, 21-15, 15-8. In the semifinals, Nicolai and Lupo, the Rio silver medalists, edged Armin Dollinger and Jonathan Erdmann of Germany in a very close three-setter, 16-21, 21-19, 20-18.

In the third place match, Rudol and Szalankiewicz came up victories over Dollinger and Erdmann by scores of 21-16 and 21-17.

·    Nicolai/Lupo (Italy) def. Dollinger/Erdmann (Germany) 16-21, 21-19, 20-18

·    Rudol/Szalankiewicz (Poland) def. Dollinger/Erdmann (Germany) 21-16, 21-17
