Facundo Conte has signed with Taubate in the Brazilian Superliga for the 2018-2019 season. Taubate is a relatively young club and was only founded in 2010. The team has yet to win a Superliga championship, but they were the runners up in 2017.
Conte stands at 6′ 6″ and plays outside hitter for the Argentinian National Team as well as various club teams. Professionally, he’s played for teams in Spain, Italy, Russia, Poland and for the last two seasons, China. Conte has won numerous titles with his professional teams including the 2014 Polish Championship, 2016 Polish Cup, and the 2017 and 2018 Chinese League Championships. He has been equally as successful with Argentina’s National Team including the 2015 Pan American Games gold medal. While leading his teams to success, he has also garnered many individual accolades: 2016 Polish Cup Best Receiver, 2015 Pan American Games MVP, 2015 CEV Champions League Best Outside Spiker, and 2014 Polish SuperCup MVP.
At Taubate, Conte will be reunited with fellow Argentian National Team member, Nicolas Uriarte. Uriarte played in Brazil for the past two seasons, albeit with Sada Cruzeiro where he won the 2017 FIVB World Club Championships and the 2018 South American Club Championship. Uriarte and Conte will be joining Brazilian superstars Lucas Saatkamp, Leandro Visotto and Douglas Souza for the upcoming season.
