When the best teams in the world gather in one location to decide the ultimate champion, you can bet there will be some amazing plays and a never say die attitude.
Here are just a few examples from the first four days of competition.
When facing No. 10 seed Brouwer and Meeuwsen on Sunday, Italians Alex Ranghieri and Carambula utilized every inch of sand and sacrificed their bodies for the team on this standout rally. Despite losing the rally, no one could doubt the fight of the Italians as they fell 21-16, 21-19.
And sometimes, the highlights simply show the dominance of a particular side. Brazil’s Larissa Franca and Talita Altunes made a play off the net and buried it to earn a match point against Americans Emily Day and Nicole Branagh. The No. 1 seeded Larissa/Talita won the match 21-15, 21-9.
