One volleyball player was named among the Top 30 honorees for the NCAA‘s 2016-17 Woman of the Year award: John C. Smith University’s Morgan Hasty.

The Salem, Indiana, native played volleyball for the Golden Bulls in 2014 and 2015, racking up 100 digs. Hasty also was a standout softball player, earning all-CIAA first team honors at third base as a senior.

Hasty was one of just 34 Division II nominees for the Woman of the Year award out of 543 overall nominees across schools, conferences and divisions. She is now one of just 10 Division II athletes among the top 30.

The Top 30 will be honored at the 2017 Women of the Year banquet Oct. 22 in Indianapolis.

The Women of the Year program, which began in 1991, honors graduating female student-athletes for excellence in academics, athletics, community service and leadership.

There were 80 volleyball players among the original 543 nominees.
