Chemik Police‘s and former University of Florida standout Alex Holston has suffered a season ending injury in Poland, according to the team’s official website. In the third set of Chemik’s match against Bielsko, after going for a dig, she grabbed her leg and went down in pain, and had to be taken out of the game. It was later revealed she had suffered an Achilles tendon tear.

“I ran to the ball, I felt pain in my leg. I could not continue playing. A day later I got to know the diagnosis. It’s a bit sad, but I try not to break down. I  had surgery and I feel good. I hope I will be back soon to the volleyball court.”

Here is what Maciej Karaczun, the club’s doctor, and Pawel Franowski, the club’s president, had to say of the injury:

“It’s quite a serious injury. After the diagnosis, we decided to proceed as soon as possible. The operation went according to plan. Now Alex will undergo a lot of recovery work. If all goes to plan, she should return to training in a few months.” – Karaczun

“First of all, we are all sorry for Alex. This is her first season as a professional, and she immediately suffered a serious injury. As a club, we provided her with the best medical care, in a private clinic. We keep our fingers crossed for the fastest recovery.” – Franowski

Holston will remain in Poland for treatment under supervision of Chemik Police‘s doctors and physiotherapist.

“A brave girl. ?? Alex after surgery.”
