Ghana and Nigeria Advance to Men’s African Championships

Ghana and Nigeria both advanced from Zone 3 of Qualification for the Men’s African Nations Volleyball Championships, which also are the 1st round of qualification for the African Volleyball Confederation for the 2018 Men’s World Championships.

Niamey,  the capital of Niger hosted Ghana, Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire from July 8th-10th for the tournament.

On the first day of matches, July 8th, Niger defeated Cote d’Ivoire 3-1 (25-17, 25-16, 17-25, 25-17) and Ghana defeated Nigeria 3-1 (22-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-13).

For the July 9th matches, Ghana defeated Cote d’Ivoire 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-16) and Nigeria defeated Niger 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-22).

On the final day of matches, July 10th, Nigeria defeated Cote d’Ivoire 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-15) and Ghana defeated Niger 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 25-17).

Final Standings for CAVB Zone 3 Qualifications

  1. Ghana, 3 wins-0 losses, 9 points
  2. Nigeria, 2-1, 6 points
  3. Niger, 1-2, 3 points
  4. Cote d’Ivoire, 0-3, 0 points
