Receiver/attacker Greg Petty of Rennes 35 Volley suffered an injury to his left knee during his side’s opening night loss to Paris Volley in French Ligue A action. The extent of Petty’s injury will be determined pending further medical examination.
Down 9-4 in the second set when the injury occurred, the Rennes 35 side was only able to manage eight more points in the frame, eventually losing 25-12. Paris Volley also took the third to win the match in straight sets (25-17, 25-12, 25-21). Receiver/attackers Titouan Halle and Emmanuel Ragondet were called on in sets two and three to replace the injured Petty.
The former Lewis University star was a 2015 AVCA All-American (2nd team) after being named an honorable mention All-American the previous season. Petty was also a key contributor to the Flyers’ runner-up finish in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
Petty has also played for the USA national team, earning Best Server recognition at the 2016 Pan American Cup.
Prior to transferring to the French Ligue A side Petty played his rookie professional season for Leka Volley in Finland during 2015-2016 season and competed last year with Pamvochaikos V.C.
