The growth of men’s volleyball at the collegiate level is continuing as Immaculata University is adding men’s volleyball as a sponsored sport for the 2018/2019 school year. Men’s volleyball will be one of four sports that will be added for the school year, bringing the total number of school sponsored sports to 23 total. In addition to men’s volleyball, Immaculata will also be adding women’s golf along with men’s and women’s swimming.

School president Barbara Lettiere issued a statement saying, ““Immaculata recognizes the importance of athletics in the education of our students and we are very excited about the addition of these four new varsity sports. They will be a great addition to our already comprehensive athletics program and will provide more options for our students who want to play competitive Division III sports.”

Immaculata is a private school located 20 outside of Philadelphia, and has an enrollment of around 4500 students with their teams playing in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. The school has already announced that women’s volleyball coach Jill Holdren will be the Mighty Macs’ first men’s coach. “I am very excited Jill has accepted the head coaching position with Immaculata’s new men’s volleyball program,” Cronmiller said. “Jill has knowledge and understanding of Immaculata, the caliber of student-athletes that the University wants to recruit, and has demonstrated success in just a few years as the head coach of the women’s volleyball team. I am confident in her ability to build a competitive men’s volleyball program at Immaculata.”
