The power struggle in the top ranks of the Volleyball Federation of India got a bit of clarity after the Delhi High Court permitted election results to be released on Saturday.
With the announcement, Ramavtar Singh Jakhar has been named Secretary General of the VFI and “took charge” at the VFI office in Channai.

The court allowed all election results, except for the President’s post, to be released.  This meant the confirmation of the executive vice president, secretary general , treasurer, nine vice presidents, two associate secretaries and seven joint secretaries.

Rajkumar was named executive vice-president and will essentially take over for interim president/executive vice president Chaudhary Avadhesh Kumar.

Kumar had his power revoked in a court order from Oct. 3, 2016, which said he “cannot conduct any tournament, meetings or make public announcements regarding the VFI.” That court order was upheld by the Madras High Court in April.

This is just the latest change in leadership for the VFI, following the departure of vice president Irvin Soares, who was ousted in late March, and Kumar’s court ordered removal from power.
