Larissa/Talita won gold in the first leg of the Brazilian National Tour last weekend, while Ricardo/Andre took the top spot in the men’s tournament.

Larissa/Talita defeated Val/Renata (21-9, 15-9), and Ricardo/Andre edged out Alvaro/Saymon (21-17, 21-15).

Four more events are left in the tour this year. The final four will be held in the first three months of 2017.

“I am very happy to have formed this partnership with Talita and knowing her family,” Larissa said. “I saw here what wonderful people they are which helps explain Talita’s success.

“Talita is the greatest champion here in this state, and it was an honor to play here with her and see how this audience loves beach volleyball.”

Larissa/Talita finished fourth at both the Rio Olympics and the Swatch FIVB World Tour Finals in Toronto earlier this month.

This was Ricardo’s 54th Brazil Tour gold and Andre’s first. The pair are 19 years apart in age — Ricardo is 44 and Andre is 22.
