The last CEV Beach Volleyball indoor event of the 2018 season is underway in Göteborg, Sweden. The city, which has the world’s largest indoor Beach Volleyball arena (at 6.300 square meters), is currently hosting 24 teams from 14 European countries. Hometown duo Martin Appelgren and Simon Boman are expected to do well (Cev.lu):

“We feel full of vim, like we are on the rise! Since Saturday, we have participated in a training camp together with the rest of the National team. It has given us some truly nice sessions in the sand. We very much look forward to getting going and hope that we can play to our full potential. We know what we are capable of and this is what we showed when we finished fifth in the 1-star event in Shepparton on the FIVB World Tour a couple of months ago. That meant a lot to our confidence – a real boost. But playing outside, with wind and under a gazing sun, is for sure a different thing than playing inside in the Beach Center.”

16-year-old Sweeding sensation David Åhman is also excited about the tournament:

“This is going to be so much fun. To get to play a tournament of this magnitude is a special thing for me. I feel awesome and having the performance from that NEVZA zonal event under our belt means a lot to us. It is a nice feeling to know that we have that kind of potential and way of playing in our veins.”

The Main Draw will start this Friday.
