Polish Wing-spiker Luka Szarek has made the move from the Volleyball club Axis Guibertin in Belgium to the Foinikas Syros in Greece.

Szarek joined  Axis Guibertin for the 2016-17 season where the team is currently ranked 10th overall in the Volleybal Liga ‘A’ out of 10 teams with three points over 10 games played.

After playing just part of the season with Axis Guibertin, Szarek will be joining the Foinikas Syros. The Foinikas Syros have been one of the top teams in the A1 Ethniki division of Greek Volleyball, where they finished third overall in the 2014-15 season and second in the 2015-16 season.

Thus far Foinikas Syrou has a 6-5 winning record in 11 games this season with their next game taking place January 11th against Paok Thessaloniki. They were supposed to play the team on December 10th, 2016, however the game was cancelled.

There is no indication as to whether or not Szarek will be dressed and playing in that game.

Currently Foinikas Syros is ranked seventh overall this season with a total of 19 points. Paok, their opponent in the upcoming game, is currently ranked third this season with nine wins in 11 games. A win for Foinikas Syros would bump them into sixth overall, passing Kifsias who sit at 19 points in 12 games.
