The Minnesota Golden Gophers, who are coming off back-to-back trips to the NCAA Final 4, will have a new look in 2017. They graduated their trio of stars, Hannah Tapp, Paige Tapp, and VolleyMob National Player of the Year Sarah Wilhite, at the end of last season. That group represented arguably the most accomplished class in program history.

But that’s not the only way that the team will look differently in the fall. This week, Minnesota unveiled their new uniforms for the new season with the most hype-worthy uniform video you’ve ever seen.

The Nike-branded uniforms are classic in general scheme – white for home matches, maroon for away. The coolest feature is a stripe down the sleeves of the uniforms that fades fr

om maroon to gold, the school’s two colors, on the home uniforms, and gold to white on the darker away uniforms.

The back of the uniforms also includes unique patterning that appears to resemble the overlapping strips of fabric that create a volleyball, or the same concept as a wood floor (though, they also look a little like bricks, with other bricks radiating out of them).

Last year’s Minnesota uniforms were more of a solid color, with no designs on the sleeves, so this year’s uniforms will come away as more intricate. See last year’s design in the photo below:

Minnesota finished the 2016 season with a 29-5 record, including 17-3 in the conference and a nation-leading 17-0 home record. They’ll open next season in Madison, Wisconsin playing in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge against North Carolina and Louisville – the last two champions of the ACC.
