With two victories on the opening day of the Husker Invite, Nebraska moved to 8-1 on the season and head coach John Cook joined an elite group nationally.
With the victories, Cook joined the 700 Club, the elite group of now-10 active Division I coaches with 700 career victories.
Cook’s career mark now stand a 700-143, including stints at Wisconsin (1992-98) and Nebraska (2000 to present). Cook went 161-73 in his seven seasons with the Badgers and is now 539-70 in 19 seasons with the Huskers. That storied career includes 23 20-win seasons and 13 30-win efforts.

Cook is the 32nd Division I coach to reach the milestone.
At Nebraska, he has guided his charges to four national championships, eight Final Four appearances, 12 conference championships and 16 Top 10 final rankings in the AVCA poll. The 2017 AVCA Hall of Famer has coached 52 All-Americans and 19 Academic All-Americans. He garnered National Coach of the Year honors in 2000 and 2005 and has earned conference honors seven times, including back-to-back accolades in the Big Ten in 2016 and 2017.

Cook’s legacy goes beyond the Husker sidelines as seven of his former assistants have gone on to head coaching jobs: Craig Skinner (Kentucky), Lee Maes (Virginia), Lizzy Stemke (Georgia), Dan Conners (UC Davis), Dan Meske (Augustana, now associate head coach at Louisville), Dani Busboom Kelly (Louisville) and Chris Tamas (Illinois).
