NORCECA is trying to prepare for the future of volleyball in the region with investment in school volleyball, youth development programs, and beach volleyball- the organization said in a presentation to the FIVB Board of Administration last week in Marrakech, Morocco.

The four-year development play called “Development Toward Greater Achievement”  will aim to not only improve the teams among the 35 National Federation members, but also the management of those associations.

Since 2009, NORCECA teams have improved their standing on the world stage, with 34 of the 35 teams ranking among the Top 100 in the FIVB in 2016. The teams also have found success in qualifying for Olympic Games, World Championships on all level and in the youth ranks.

The NORCECA president and zonal association presidents are hoping for FIVB approval of the plan and that the FIVB would supply the remaining 48.5 percent of the necessary budget for the plan.

On the beach volleyball front, the confederation has continued to build its game with the Continental Beach Volleyball Tour, which has taken place every year since 2006 in more than 16 countries.
