Brazilian Paula Pequeno switched clubs to join Volei Bauru earlier this summer, but will have to wait a bit longer to make an impact on the team after suffering a calf injury in her club debut.

Pequeno, an attacker/receiver on Brazil’s 2008 and 2012 Olympic teams, jumped from Brasilia Volei, which finished sixth in the Brazilian Superliga, to her new squad, which was fifth in 2016-17.

Pequeno is with her ninth club side since going pro in 1994, mostly in her homeland.

The 35-year old Brasilia native made her debut for Volei Bauru August 15 against Sesi in the Campeonato Paulista. She suffered a left calf injury during the match, which will keep her out of the lineup for anywhere from five to 15 days.

The injury has been diagnosed as a “mild muscle injury” via MRI according to team doctor Jose Bassan Franco.
