Poland Brings Back Large Portion Of WL Roster To Euro Championships

2017 CEV EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP – MEN

Poland has announced their roster for the 2017 CEV European Championship, with a large number of players returning from the World League team that finished in eighth place this year. Overall, they went 4-5 in the preliminary rounds, missing out on the finals by two points.

Poland has the home court advantage for the Euro Championships, as they will begin their play in Gdansk, with other teams playing in Szczecin, Krakow and Katowice.

Dawid Konarski the team’s opposite side hitter returns after posting 129 points in the preliminary rounds of the World League. Of those points, he scored 18 off blocks ranking him ninth overall with 0.50 blocks per set. Michal Kubiak also makes a return for the European Championship squad. Kubiak posted 92 points in the on 79 kills, six blocks and seven aces on the outside.

In 2015, Poland finished in fifth place ahead of Russia.

In Pool A, Poland will take on Finland, Estonia and Serbia to begin their way to a Euro Championship title.
