Murilo Endres is certainly the biggest star of Sesi/SP’s 10 years as a volleyball club, being part of the team since the first day of its existence. Together, they have won 6 São Paulo Cups, 4 São Paulo Championships, 1 Superliga Title, and 1 South American Championship.
To commemorate all these feats, the team decided to surprise him with a jersey retirement ceremony before Sesi’s Brazilian Cup final game against Cruzeiro last week (video below). This is the first ceremony of its kind in Brazilian Superliga that VolleyMob knows of.
Murilo is one of the best Brazilian players of his generation. With Brazil’s national team, he won 6 FIVB World Leagues, 2 FIVB Grand Champions Cup, 2 FIVB World Championships, in addition to two Olympic Silver medals. He also won MVP awards at the 2010 FIVB World League, 2010 FIVB World Championship, and at the 2012 London Olympic Games. To top it off, he was awarded as Brazil’s best athlete for the year of 2010 by the Brazilian Olympic Committee.
Although Sesi lost to Cruzeiro at the Brazilian Cup finals, it currently sits in third place of Superliga’s standings with an 11-3 record.

Although his last few seasons has been injury plagued, which included him being left out of Brazil’s gold medal run at the 2016 Olympic Games, Murilo has made a successful comeback to the courts by switching position to libero. He recently was cleared from a doping accusation from WADA, which left him out of the courts for six months.
