Cal State Northridge earned its first Big West win and coach Jeff Campbell his 300th win by sweeping No. 3 Hawaii. Also picking up key Big West victories were No. 1 Long Beach State and No. 5 UC Irvine, while No. 2 BYU and No. 8 Pepperdine grabbed MPSF wins.
Pepperdine used 13.5 blocks to stifle the Concordia offense and won the rest of the stat sheet as well in the sweep Thursday night.
#14 CUI picked up a four-set win over EIVA member Harvard, while Charleston survived a five-setter in South Carolina against Conference Carolinas member North Greenville.

No. 12 Concordia Irvine snapped a three-match losing streak by grabbing a four-set home upset of No. 4 Loyola to highlight Thursday night action. No. 3 UC Irvine won via sweep at home, while No. 5 BYU edged out No. 15 Penn State in a five-setter in Honolulu.
It was a short night for the top two teams in the country with No. 1 Long Beach State and No. 2 Hawaii making quick work of their foes in sweeps. The victory moves the 49ers to 16-0, marking the program’s best start since 1992.
