Thailand Picks Up Second Win of SEA Games

Group A

Thailand def. Cambodia 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-17)

Myanmar def. Malaysia 3-2 (25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 20-25, 17-15)

 

Group B

Indonesia def. Timor-Leste 3-0 (25-9, 25-6, 25-8)

 

Thailand moved to 2-0 in Pool A at the Southeast Asian Games with a sweep of Cambodia on Tuesday. With one match remaining on Thursday, the three-time defending champions are guaranteed a spot in the semifinals.

Malaysia and Myanmar each have one Group A win. Malaysia will face Thailand on Thursday, while Myanmar will take on Cambodia (0-2) on Friday.

In Pool B, Indonesia picked up its first win, topping Timor-Leste in a three-set drubbing. Vietnam, the 2015 runnerup,  also has one victory in the group after topping the Philippines on Monday.

Pool B is set for two matches on Wednesday with Vietnam facing Timor-Leste and the Philipines taking on Indonesia.

Each pool will play one match on Thursday and another on Friday to wrap up preliminary round action.

The women’s competition begins on Wednesday with the team from Thailand checking in as the heavy favorite having won each of the last 10 tournaments dating to 1995.
