2017 Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals

The 2017 FIVB World Tour schedule is winding down, with the Swatch FIVB World Tour Finals rapidly approaching just weeks after the Beach World Championships. The event will run from August 23 to August 27 in Hamburg, Germany.

The top eight teams per gender have been selected for the competition, based on the past 365 days of play. There is a maximum of two pairs per country that will automatically qualify for the $800,000 World Tour Finals. There will be an additional four teams selected to compete at the World Tour Finals, which will be chosen as wild card selections. The winning team in each gender will win and share the $100,000 first-place prize.

The teams selected thus far are the top-eight teams in the rankings.

Headlining for the men are Evandro Gonvales/Andre Loyola after they captured the gold medal at the World Champions this past week, along with silver medal winners Clemens Doppler/Alexander Horst.

On the women’s side of the tournament, the winners from the World Championships, Kira Walkenhorst and Laura Ludwig don’t have a high enough rank to qualify automatically for the World Tour finals, therefore will have to wait out the wild card selection process. Entering in are Larissa Franca/Talita Antunes, who captured the bronze medal at the World Championships after taking down Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredes. Silver medal winners, April Ross/Lauren Fendrick do not automatically qualify either and will await a wild card.
