UCF, Wichita State Nab American Athletic Conference POW Honors

UCF outside hitter Kia Bright was named AAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Wichita State libero Giorgia Civita was dubbed Defensive Player of the Week.

Bright averaged 3.67 kills per set and hit at a .340 clip, while also chipping in 4.83 digs per set in a pair of victories over Virginia at the VolleyKnights Invitational. In Friday’s match, the redshirt senior posted an 11-kill, 16-dig double-double. She followed that effort with an 11-kill, 13-dig effort on Saturday to grab her fourth career player of the week accolades.

For her part, Civita racked up 7.86 digs per set against No. 7 Creighton and No. 23 Iowa State at the Shocker Volleyball Classic. In the upset of the Bluejays, the redshirt freshman pulled up 29 digs and added seven assists. In the loss to the Cyclones, the Milan, Italy, native managed a match-high 26 digs, three assists and an ace.
