UCLA’s Micah Ma’a helped lead the Bruins to a 3-0 weekend, earning himself the AVCA Division I-II Men’s Player of the Week.
The Bruins started the week with a 4 set win at CSUN followed by a sweep at Concordia Irvine. They concluded their perfect week with a sweep over Grand Canyon on the road. On the week, Ma’a dished out an average of 12.5 assists per set helping the Bruins to a .443 hitting percentage as a team for the week. Additionally, Ma’a picked up 1.7 digs per set, 0.6 blocks per set and 1.5 kills per set on a .667 hitting clip.
Against CSUN, Ma’a put down 5 kills on a .714 hitting clip, dished out 47 assists and 8 digs in the win. He kept the ball rolling against Concordia Irvine with 5 kills on a .833 hitting percentage, 36 assists and 7 digs. To conclude the week he put down another 5 kills hitting .500 along with 42 assists.
This is the 22nd time that a Bruin has earn the AVCA Player of the Week, with Ma’a having already picked up the award last year on January 17.
