USA Volleyball CEO Jamie Davis met with the FIVB (international governing body for Volleyball) in order to discuss  the intent to pursue creating a professional indoor volleyball league among other subjects.

Davis and USA Volleyball Board of Directors Chairman Lori Okimura met with FIVB 1st Executive Vice-President and NORECA President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, FIVB Secretary General Fernando Lima and FIVB General Director Fabio Azevedo at the FIVB headquarters in Luasanne, Switzerland.

The creation of a professional league for both men and women in the United States was discussed, along with strategies for increased participating in international events at all age groups in all discipline and establishing more FIVB world Tour events. Also discussed was how to establish more properties for beach volleyball, how to include more opportunities for sitting volleyball in cooperation with World ParaVolley and the 40 regions of USA Volleyball.

USA Volleyball will be changing its corporate strategy in the future under the new leadership. Davis recently became the president as of January 3, 2017, and discussed his plans for changes including those for marketing and public relations, with FIVB President Ary S. Graca.

“It was an honor meeting FIVB president Ary Graca and Mr. Marte Hoffiz in Lausanne and being able to have deep conversations regarding my strategic direction of USA Volleyball,” Davis said. “Our goals of increasing participating in all volleyball disciplines, establishing more FIVB events in the United States, pursuing the creation of a professional league for men’s and women’s indoor volleyball, and building the overall brand of USA Volleyball were very well received and I am confident that we will be able to work closely with the FIVB and NORCECA to achieve success.”
