USA Volleyball Launches Adult National Beach Tour

Trying to parallel the increasing success of their indoor U.S. Open Championships for adult players, USA Volleyball have announced that they will host the inaugural USA Volleyball National Beach Tour (NBT) Adult Championships from September 29th-30th at Fort Lauderdale Beach South Park in Florida.

The tournament will include Open, AA, A, and B divisions, with the open divisions offering cash prizes to the winners. The Open classes will be played in a double-elimination bracket, while all other divisions will have pool play and a single-elimination playoff.

This is planned as the culmination of the new USA Volleyball National Beach Tour that began earlier this year, and as of latest count is up to 87 events.

Details on the tournament, including just how big those prize pools will be, are still thin, but there will be divisions for men, women, and co-ed teams. With two major domestic professional beach tours already operating in the United States, in addition to USA Volleyball’s tour, this new tournament will have to find its niche in a crowded adult space.

A rough format of the tournament has been released, however, with each pool planned to be a single-day tournament.
