Utah’s Anae, Oblad Bring Home Pac-12 Player of the Week Honors

Utah’s Adora Anae had a big week. The senior became Utah’s all-time kills leader while helping the Utes to a five-set upset win over No. 8 Washington and vote-getter Washington State. The senior outside hitter averaged 5.00 kills and 3.00 digs per set, while hitting .250 and chipping in three blocks. The Punaluu, Hawaii, native posted double-doubles in both matches, recording 25 kills and 11 digs against UW and 20 kills and 16 digs vs. WSU.

Anae’s teammate Berkeley Oblad garnered Defensive Player of the Week accolades for her role in the Utes’ wins, including a career-high 11 stuffs against UW. The junior middle blocker notched 2.67 kills and 1.88 blocks per set as well as 10 digs in the wins. Against the Huskies, the Henderson, Nevada, native posted a career-high 15 kills and 11 stuffs for her first ever double-double. Against the Cougars, Oblad tallied nine kills and six blocks.

Washington middle blocker Lauren Sanders was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week after hitting .667 with 25 kills in matches against Utah and Colorado. The Snohomish, Washington, native averaged 3.13 kills and 2.13 blocks per set, while hitting .667 on the weekend. Aganst Utah, Sanders managed 17 kills on a .762 hitting percentage, the best by a Husky with 17 or more kills in the rally scoring era, while turning in 10 blocks to round out a double-double. On Sunday, the rookie racked up eight kills on 15 errorless swings, to go with a team-leading seven blocks.
