University of Texas at San Antonio’s recent graduate Marijeta Runjic has announced in her official Instagram page that she has signed her first professional volleyball contract with Hungary’s Haladas VSE:
“So excited and happy to announce that for my 1st ever professional volleyball season I’ll be playing in Hungary! ???? Thank you everyone for all the love & support here at home and in USA! Hope I’ll make y’all proud”
In 2017, her senior season, Marijeta played in 27 matches, starting 24 of them, being recognized as a First-Team All Conference on the way. She averaged 4.15 points per set on a .210 hitting percentage for the season, racking up a few C-USA weekly honors. As a junior, she was named a Conference USA Second Team All-Conference, averaging a team second-best 2.93 kills per set (278 kills), while also being ranked fourth on the team with 16 aces (0.17 saps), tallying 13 matches in double-figure kills, including two of 20-plus.
As a sophomore, Marijeta was named Second team All-Conference USA, averaging a team second-best 2.98 kills per set with 0.60 blocks and 0.44 digs per set, tallying 20 matches in double figure kills and 13 matches of three blocks or more. As a freshman, she recognized with a spot on Conference USA All-Freshman Team, staring in 9 of 29 matches, reaching double-digit kills 12 times
Internationally, the Croatian national has represented Croatia’s national team at the youth level in many CEV and FIVB tournaments.
