This week’s Player of the Week decision was one of our toughest yet as the numbers for Week 4 were insane across the board. In the end, Cal Poly’s Torrey Van Winden had a slight edge over the pack with an all-around and efficient effort.

The junior outside hitter averaged 6.00 kills, 2.30 digs and 0.90 blocks per set while hitting .453 at the North Texas Challenge en route to Big West Player of the Week honors. The Napa, California native, notched 17 kills to go with three digs and three blocks on a .364 hitting effort against Mississippi State. She posted 21 kills, nine digs and three blocks while hitting .436 vs. Wichita State. Van Winden tallied 22 kills, 11 digs, three blocks and three aces, while hitting .559 against North Texas.

Jordan Thompson, Cincinnati – RS Jr., OH

Averaged 7.45 kills and 1.36 digs and 0.73 blocks per set, while hitting .394 against Eastern Kentucky, Indiana and Xavier; notched 15 kills and three digs, while hitting .542 in just two sets against EKU; posted 35 kills, eight digs, four blocks and three aces in five set loss against Indiana, while hitting .316; downed 32 kills and added five digs, five blocks and an ace while hitting .435 in four-set win over Xavier; American Offensive Player of the Week

Cheyenne Huskey, Texas State – Jr., S/OH

Averaged 4.67 kills and 2.67 digs per set, while hitting at a .495 clip and adding seven blocks and seven aces; downed a school three-set record 21 kills on a .533 clip and adding three blocks and two digs at UTSA; added eight kills and nine digs while hitting .278 vs. Gonzaga; notched a 13-kill, 15-dig double double, five aces and a block, while hitting .440 against Northern Arizona; chipped in 14 kills on a .722 clip (14-1-18) while adding six digs, three blocks and two aces vs. Arizona State; committed just 11 errors on the week; named to Arizona State Sparky Classic all-tournament team; Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week

Amber Weber, Marshall – Jr., L

Averaged 8.27 digs per set en route to BGSU Invitational all-tournament team honors; notched 35 digs, six assists and two aces against BGSU; added 25 digs and six aces in a sweep of Nicholls State; posted 31 digs in four-set win against IUPUI; Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week

Kallie Seimet, Bowling Green – Sr., L

Averaged 7.60 digs per set en route to MVP honors at the BGSU Invitational; posted 35 digs in 3-1 win over Marshall and made good on 20 serve reception chances; tallied 27 digs in sweep of IUPUI; wrapped weekend with 14 saves against Nicholls State; MAC West Defensive Player of the Week

Ivone Martinez, FAU – Sr., S

Averaged 14.22 assists and 3.11 digs per set, while leading team to a .350 hitting percentage in three wins; notched 40 assists and nine digs vs. SDSU as team hit .343 (52-17-102); dished out 40 assists and added seven digs vs. San Jose State as team hit .324 (46-13-102); tallied 48 assists and 12 digs vs. North Florida as team hit .386 (52-13-101); tournament MVP at Owls Classic; Conference USA Setter of the Week

Averaged 4.43 kills, 2.86 digs per set, while hitting .303 in two wins over Texas; notched 13 kills, 10 digs, three aces and three assists, while hitting .296 on Tuesday; posted 18 kills, 10 digs, four blocks and two aces while hitting .308 on Friday; made good on 22 of 24 serve reception chances (91.7 percent); Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week

Jess Grabowski, Milwaukee – Fr., L

Averaged 7.1 digs per set at the CEFCU Classic; pulled up 24 digs and added three assists vs. Omaha; tacked on 19 digs and three assists vs. Eastern Illinois; posted 28 saves in Saturday’s three-set win at Bradley; went 77-for-87 on serve reception (89 percent); Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week

Averaged 5.87 digs per set and made good on 98.7 percent (75 of 76) serve reception chances; pulled up 23 digs and added three aces vs. New Orleans, while going 21-for-21 on serve receive; notched 40 digs and six assists in a five-set loss to North Dakota while going 31-for-31 on serve receive; rounded out the week with 25 digs and five assists at USF, while going 23-for-24 on serve receive; named to all-tournament team; joined the 1000 dig club vs. USF

Callie Schwarzenbach, Nebraska – Fr., MB

Averaged 2.70 blocks and 1.00 kills per set at Husker Invite; notched 13 blocks and a kill vs. New Mexico; added four kills and five blocks vs. Central Michigan; posted five kills and nine blocks vs. Missouri State; Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week
