Helping his team to an undefeated week, Loyola’s Ben Plaisted earns this week’s VolleyMob National Player of the Week.
Loyola took on Saint Francis and Penn State this week, sweeping the Red Flash and downing the Nittany Lions in four.
Plaisted put down a team-best 11 kills against Saint Francis. He was also able to pick up seven digs and block six balls against the Red Flash. Facing the Nittany Lions, Plaisted took charge, leading the Ramblers for the second straight match in kills with 16 on a .400 hitting percentage. This is the 12th consecutive match that Plaisted put down 10 or more kills in a match. On top of his kill performance, Plaisted picked up six digs and five blocks, two of which were solo blocks.
The Junior opposite hitter from Wisconsin, has had a steady career with Loyola, putting down 154 kills in his freshman season and in his sophomore campaign improving to 181 kills. In 2016, Plaisted averaged 3.18 kills per set and 0.86 blocks per set.
So far this season, Plaisted has recorded 220 kills, 112 digs, 56 blocks and 19 service aces. Plaisted ranks in the top-50 of the country in kills per set with 2.89 (#42). He also ranks #36 in points per set with 3.57.
