2017 CEV EUROPEAN WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIPS

Bulgaria and Germany are set out today to fight for the last remaining spot in the quarterfinals of the 2017 CEV European Women’s Championships. The winner will move on while the loser will pack their bags and head home.

Germany has posted a 1-2 record so far in the competition, with losses to both Poland and Azerbaijan while winning against Hungary in four. Germany has been led by Louisa Lippmann, as she has posted 66 points so far. Lippmann has been the go-to player for the Germans over the summer and will need to stay active in the match for Germany to stay alive in the tournament.

Bulgaria has been in three five-set matches so far in the competition, with two wins and one loss. The wins came over the Ukraine and Turkey while they faced Russia on the final day to take the top spot of the pool, but fell short, losing in five. Leading Bulgaria has been Elitsa Vasileva with 63 points, along with Dobriana Rabadzhieva with 47. These two players will have to be strong for Bulgaria to fight past the Germans.
