QINZHOU THREE STAR

The finals are set and a first time champion could be crowned in the Qinzhou Open Three Star medal matches late Saturday night.

Both the men’s and women’s gold and bronze medal matches will be streamed live on the FIVB youtube channel.

On the women’s side, Kinga Kolosinska and Katarzyna Kociolek, the No. 30 seed from Poland, will look to knock off their third top five foe of the tournament and garner their first ever FIVB title against Australian No. 5 seed Mariafe Artacho and Taliqua Clancy. The match is set for 11:05 p.m. ET Saturday.

But first, the bronze medal match will pit the tournament’s top two seeds against each other. Homestanding Fan Wang and Xinyi Xia of China will meet No. 2 seeded Americans Summer Ross and Brooke Sweat. Both were bested in straight sets in the semifinals. The match is set for 9:05 p.m. ET Saturday.

On the men’s side, the top three seeds are out, which leaves the gold medal spot open for either No. 4 Juan Virgen and Lombardo Ontiveros of Mexico or surprise team No. 15 Maxim Sivolap and Igor Velichko of Russia. The match is set for 12:05 a.m. ET Sunday.

Top seeded Belgians Dries Koekelkoren and Tom van Walle will face No. 3 Nadir Diaz Gomez and Bayard Sergio Reynaldo of Cuba in the bronze medal matchup. The match is set for 10:05 p.m. ET Saturday.
