2017 FIVB BEACH VOLLEYBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS – VIENNA

#2 seeded Chantal Laboureur and Julia Sude had no troubles running through their #23 seeded opponents from Spain, Angela Lobato and Elsa Baquerizo 2-0, (21-17, 21-16). Both teams entered the day with a 2-0 record so far in the tournament but Laboureur/Sude escaped with a 3-0 record after pool play. Both teams move forward to the Round of 32 that will begin on August 2.

The strong wind in Vienna through the German crew off their game, forcing them to quickly adjust how they were serving in the match.

The German’s took to Lobato on the serve, as she received 20-1 in serves in the second set alone. On the attack, the German squad did not make many errors in the match using a number of hard cross shots and line balls to win their points. Laboureur was the main hitter in the match for the German side using strong cut shots from the outside to throw off the Spaniards.

For Spain, they served the majority of the balls to Laboureur in the match. Lobato was the top attacker for the Spaniards as she found her points from mixing up her deep cross shot with angles around the court.
