WOODLAND, CA – Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Executive Director, Al Beaird, has announced the MPSF All-Academic Scholar-Athletes for the 2018 men’s volleyball season.
Grand Canyon led the way with eight honorees, while Pepperdine and Stanford added five each, followed by BYU (4), Concordia Irvine (3), UCLA (2) and USC (2).
MPSF Player of the Year David Wieczorek from Pepperdine is among the honorees. Wieczorek and four other first-team MPSF selections: setter Micah Ma’a (UCLA), outside hitter Jack Wyett (USC), middle blocker Price Jarman (BYU) and setter Leo Durkin (BYU) also garnered All-Academic accolades.
The honorees also included five second team All-MPSF selections: outside hitter Alex Harthaller (Pepperdine), outside Dylan Missry (UCLA), libero Evan Enriques (Stanford), middle blocker Kevin Rakestraw (Stanford) and setter Chandler Gibb (Concordia) and three honorable mention honorees: middle blocker Hunter Howell (Concordia), outside hitter Cullen Mosher (Grand Canyon), libero Sky Engleman (Grand Canyon).
In order to be eligible for MPSF All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically with a 3.00 or better cumulative grade-point average, having competed in 50 percent or more of the team’s matches. Student-athletes must have completed one full academic year at their current institution.
